Ethical Trading
At Oliver Gibbs Carpentry & Joinery, we are committed to ethical trading.
This means that we seek to act responsibly and honestly in all aspects of business and, where possible, use suppliers that do the same. As carpenters and joiners, ethical practice includes:
Environmental enterprise
The environment is important to us. We calculate and minimise the use of electricity and fuel. We seek to reduce, recycle and responsibly dispose of waste. Where possible, we avoid using water, hazardous substances and chemicals tested on animals.
Conscientious carpentry
We aim to do a good job and make sure that clients are happy with what we have done. We tell clients about their consumer rights on our website and terms and conditions. If we do something wrong, we have a clear complaint resolution procedure to put it right.
Fair Finance
We are committed to fair pricing. We provide free written quotes and do not apply hidden charges. We use a bank that invests its money ethically. We accept cash for clients’ convenience, not to avoid taxes. All our work is properly invoiced and we declare our earnings.
Sustainable sourcing
We try to source materials and services sustainably from the local area. We only purchase timber from responsibly managed forests. Where possible we will employ people from Shrewsbury and support local businesses and charities.
Equitable employment
We provide fair wages and terms and conditions for our employees. We work hard but ensure that working hours are not excessive. We do not tolerate bullying or discrimination. We seek adequate training and safe and hygienic conditions for workers.
Accurate advertising
In advertising our services, we want to be positive about our work but do not want to exaggerate or mislead. We strive to produce clear publicity that is written in plain English. If we cannot do a job, we will tell customers. We protect clients’ personal data in keeping with our privacy & cookies policy.
And we are even partial to a fair trade banana at lunch!
