Glass Fronted Staircase

Published by Oliver on

Jacob dreamed about it. Led Zeppelin sang about it. We didn’t make a stairway to heaven. But we crafted an attractive oak, glass fronted staircase for a client in Shrewsbury.

Bespoke staircase

The client told us verbally what they wanted.  The new staircase was to be crafted in oak with pine treads. The balustrade needed to be toughened glass.  A simple but attractive design.

Cut by hand

Having measured the old staircase, we made a template in the workshop. The size and angle of the steps needed to comply with Building Regulations. The oak was then cut by hand.

Oak on show

Back on sight, we removed the old staircase and reassembled the glass fronted staircase. The 10mm glass shows off the oak beautifully.  An under-stairs cupboard was built for storage.

Repeat customer

It might not be a stairway to heaven, but it adds an attractive stairway to the second floor.  In fact, the client liked it so much, they commissioned another one when they moved home!
